In 1959, when America was still obsessed with football and baseball, Sports Chalet was far ahead of the curve. The original shop, a short drive from the ski hills near Los Angeles, stocked ski gear at first, but began carrying surfboards and wetsuits as surf culture gripped California. To this day, surfboards, surf wax and apparel can still be found in Sport Chalet's inventory, but the chain has made a name for itself by becoming the largest retailer of Scuba gear in North America.
The Aqua-Lung is amongst that famous stock of Scuba gear, along with masks, fins and dive boots from top brands such as Tusa and Akona. Backpacking, cycling and fishing gear, in addition to fitness machines, are only four of many other categories in Sports Chalet's extensive selection, making membership in their Action Pass loyalty program all the more worthwhile. Members earn $10 for every $300 spent and are treated to an ever-changing assortment of special offers.
