It all started in 1977, when a broke advertiser “paid” a radio host with a bunch of can openers. He went on TV to sell them, and the rest was history. The Home Shopping Network (HSN) was the first of its kind, having gone on air in 1982. Insomniacs may have many fond memories of watching HSN programming in the dead of the night, but the company now runs a number of channels, in addition to a website, and produce full-fledged TV shows that discuss style, beauty products and everything else.
